Jodi’s Heart Inc. is a non-profit corporation committed to serving the special needs population. At Jodi’s Heart we believe the participant comes first and our business is built around that philosophy. We spend our days (and evenings) helping our participants enjoy their lives to the fullest. Every participant is an individual with their own wants, needs and desires and we strive to help each participant maximize their independence while fully enjoying life. Our programs and activities are participant-driven and all services are provided based on each participant’s individual goals. Jodi’s Heart was founded in Sheridan, Wyoming in 2008 by Jodi Smith. Jodi has served the special needs population in and around Sheridan, Wyoming for over 30 years. Jodi is fond of saying she wants her program to be “a place she would be comfortable leaving her relatives and loved ones.”
Our main office is located at 54 Seymour just off North Main Street in Sheridan, Wyoming. Our main office houses our Day Habilitation program as well as our business offices. Jodi’s Heart Inc. offers a wide array of services for children and adults. We serve both Developmentally Disabled (DD) individuals and adults who have Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI). Our primary funding source is through the Medicaid waiver which is run by the State of Wyoming Department of Health. We also help our participants in working through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Workforce Services, and Northern Wyoming Mental Health.
There is never a dull moment at Jodi’s Heart. All activities and events are selected by the participants. If we are not in the middle of an activity we are busy planning our next fun filled event. A list of just some of our fun filled activities include: an annual Christmas Tour of Homes on the Sheridan Trolley, our annual five day trip to Keystone, SD, our annual camping trip in the beautiful Big Horn Mountains, our annual Thanksgiving dinner and our annual Mother’s Day Tea. In addition to our larger annual events, we stay busy around the center and in our houses. We have seen several concerts over the last few years including Dierks Bentley, Merle Haggard, Kutless, and Hal Ketchum. We have participated in the Dayton Days parade, gone to the Bird Farm, the Sheridan WYO Rodeo parade, and swimming at the Kendrick Pool. We also find time to work on some daily living skills at our Day Hab center and houses such as cooking, community safety, sewing, and exercising. We also are able to fit in some leisure activities such as movie days with popcorn and hot chocolate, Wii tournaments, scrapbooking and golfing.
